Reaching the door of Number Twelve alone - after Coralie made a point of being sure she would get inside on her own - Selena regarded the strange knocker on the door and reluctantly used it to announce her presence on the doorstep. Her godparents knew she was coming, so she was able to pull the unlocked door open afterwards and step in. Footsteps quiet on the thick carpeting, she cast a wary glance towards the far end of the hallway where the often-shrieking portrait of Walburga Black hung - but was thankfully now silent. Her hearing was far too sensitive to be subjected to that.
Making it through the hallway, she slipped into the kitchen to check and see who was around. She was only here alone because her brother had stayed at home - and Jared and Jason both had gone to her family's apartment. It meant none of the boys were around, so it would at least be a relatively peaceful visit.

Astrid poked her head out of her room, thinking she heard someone entering downstairs. "Hello?" She called softly, her voice uncertain. Her mother was at work and her brothers were at the Lupins, which left three possibilities. Either her father had come home from wherever he had been holed up, her brothers had forgotten something and come back for it, or she was being robbed, which would be rather inconvenient, as Astrid had no idea what she would do should that occasion arise.
Hearing no response, Astrid went back into her room and pulled the bludger bat she kept under her bed just in case (though in case what, she wasn't sure,) and made her way slowly to the stairs, her socks making barely any noise on the floor. She peeked her head around the corner, waiting for a sign to see who it was.

Able to hear the footsteps on the stairs - faint or not - Selena gave up on looking in the recesses of the kitchen. There was no one there, real or imagined. Rounding the long wooden table, she pushed the door leading out into the hall open quietly and flicked a glance towards the stairs, hand going to her wand as if on an afterthought. Shaking her head and walking across the carpet again, she made it to the bottom of the stairs without waking the portrait and looked up to the three landings above.
A snort catching in her throat at the sight of Astrid above, she took note of the bludger bat and nearly laughed. "I hope you don't actually plan on hitting me with that."

"Selena?" Astrid asked in surprise, letting the bludger bat fall to the floor with a loud thump. "What are you doing here?" Not waiting for the older girl's response, Astrid took off down the stairs at a pace that was certainly not safe, but she made it down to the first landing without managing to kill herself. She threw her arms around the older girl, who she hadn't seen in a while just by sheer bad luck.
It was no secret that Astrid thought of the other girl as a sister, and she looked up to Selena as much as she (secretly) looked up to Jared and Jason. However, it was easier for her to show her affection to Selena than her brothers.

"Sibling trade." Selena managed to say with a perfectly straight face, returning Astrid's hug with just about as much enthusiasm as the younger girl was showing. "Actually, I didn't want to get caught between your brothers and mine." Letting go of Astrid, she gave a slightly dry smile, knowing there was no explanation necessary. When those three boys were together..things got crazy.
"Besides, I haven't visited in a while. Wanted a change of scenery, figured I'd start with my favorite cousin." She wasn't speaking of the term in blood, but more just something earned. Their families had always been close, so they may as well have been related.

"Glad I'm your favorite. I've fought some pretty brutal battles to win that award." Astrid joked, letting go of the other girl and casting the portrait of her grandmother a look. Better move their little meeting into the parlor. Astrid led the way, flopping onto a dark couch when she got there.
"Can't say I blame you for running away from that, but there's not much to do here." Astrid shrugged. To be living in a mansion, one would think that she'd have plenty of ways to be amusing herself. However, other than the expansive library, being in Grimmauld place by yourself was rather boring.

"Let's not get started on the pros and cons of all the others." Voice lowered as she followed Astrid's lead into the parlor, Selena glanced around and spotted one of her favorite armchairs to curl up in - though it had been moved closer to the fireplace. Going to sit down, she drew her knees up beside her.
"At least there are other places to go than your own bedroom here. I may as well be sharing a bedroom with Shawn for all the time he spends around me." She made a face, but didn't actually seem that annoyed.

"Steal his wand and lock yourself in your room." Astrid suggested with a mischevious grin. She had done it to Jay before when he was annoying her.
"I'll happily trade you." Astrid said with a shrug. She loved her family, and she loved her home, but she would give anything to trade places with Selena (except maybe the werewolf thing.) While the Lupin apartment may be small, there was always someone around to keep things interesting, and in a place that little, it was always easy to run into someone else, causing lots of chances for amusement. That was the main problem with Grimmauld place- it was so big one could go weeks without seeing anyone. Talk about boring.

"Right, that'd work for a couple hours..if I'm lucky." Sinking further back into the cushioning of the chair, she flicked a glance up at the ceiling. At the suggestion of trading, she looked back across at the younger girl, lifting one eyebrow. "Trade with me on what?"

"Well, it's an hour or two you don't already have." Astrid pointing out, picking up a throw pillow and clutching it to herself as she rested her chin on it. Her blue eyes looked grey in the dim lighting as she watched her "sister."
She blinked at Selena's question, then shrugged. "Houses. Families. I'll trade anytime you'd like."

"I suppose so. If it comes down to it, I'll try that next time he gets to hounding me." Letting out a breath, she noticed a stray whisp of hair blowing around and pushed it away from her face. "You want to trade houses?" One of the few that actually liked the feel of Grimmauld Place, she looked over with no small amount of amazement.

"Of course I would!" Astrid stared at her as if really wondering if she had just asked that. "Your place is so much better than here... it's like a bad muggle horror novel, what with all the screaming pictures and crazy antique body parts. I'd much rather live in your apartment, with your not so crazy family."

"That's all well and good, but our apartment is pretty cramped and gets boring quickly. At least here, you aren't sharing a bathroom with your brothers." Selena shook her head, a bit surprised that the two of them had differing opinions - that rarely had ever happened before.

"It's the fact that it's so cramped that makes it interesting- there's always someone around to talk to or keep you company. Around here, even when everyone's home, it's impossible to find them." Astrid raised a brow, thinking that it was hard to believe that Selena would actually want to trade if she could. It was unfathomable to the youngest Black.

"And that's something I like on occasion." Not saying why or when that was, Selena sighed and smoothed her hair absently. "It's not really an issue, though, I guess. Soon enough, we'll be going to Hogwarts and getting away from both places."
