She proved his assumptions wrong with how she reacted, and when he noticed how pale her face was, it made his eyes sting again. No moisture came and he blinked to ensure that, then - albeit with a slight hesitation - wrapped his arms around her to return the hug. It had been several years since he was this close to anyone outside of family, and the proximity was such that he could smell everything about her. His sense of smell was so keen that he could tell the difference between her shampoo, the smell of her clothes, her skin..it all formed a heady, but amazing mixture.
Forcing his thoughts in a different direction than they would have normally gone, he spoke again - though not as loud, as he knew she'd be hearing him speak more through his chest than anything else. "Thank you for listening..and not writing me off and pushing me away. I appreciate it more than I really know how to express."

Belle tilted her head up to look at him, her arms still loosely wrapped around his frame. "You don't have to thank me." She sniffed quietly, her green eyes bright with the tears of self-frustration she refused to let fall. "I know I can't do much.... but anything I can do... please don't hesitate to ask."
She rested her cheek against his chest again, knowing that she should probably be pulling away right then, but she didn't want to. Zeph was the first person in a long time that Belle had hugged, and the first ever that she didn't have to worry about being careful while doing so. Then adding to the fact that he smelled divine and she felt like she fit there, Belle wasn't all that keen to move.

"You've already done more than I could ever think to ask for." Being completely serious, he chose not to say that there was nothing to be done in actuality. There was no way for anyone to help someone with lycanthrophy, as the condition was incurable - but the conditions of the life around it wasn't. "If you really want to help me, all that I ask is just that..this continues. What we've done today. I haven't been able to think this clearly in a long time without worrying about everything under the sun. It's a real relief.."

"What?" Belle asked, pulling away slightly to stand a few inches from him. Her expression was hard to read, but she didn't look angry, or upset, or anything describable, really.
"I'm not going to treat you like a pariah, Zeph. Not today, not tomorrow.... if that's what you mean." She glanced away when she said it, wondering if he was indeed talking about their friendship that had definitely been started this morning, or if he was talking about something else, the something else that had made her linger perhaps a little longer than was wise...

"I wasn't trying to imply that you were, I just..I have to get used to the idea of actually having a friend again, one that's not going to run away at the drop of a hat." There had been so many instances of that in his life that he had lost track, and it was going to be a hard mentality to break. Not only that, but he was starting to think he saw things in a slightly different light.. "I'll keep the paranoia down, I promise. Just bear with me a little at first." Emotions back to their normal levels of functionality, he managed to give a genuine smile.

"Well, I have to get used to it, too. So we can get used to it together, I guess." She offered him a smile, though, as she leaned against the wall. "I'll let you get away with it for a little while before I start getting offended that you don't trust me." She winked, clearly joking.
"That is, if you can handle that I'll probably try to smother you the few days after the full moon. Lots of food, lots of pillow fluffing..." She grinned sheepishly. When she couldn't do something effective, she looked for little things she could do, even if they weren't necessary. They made her feel better.

Zephyr actually laughed at her entire little spiel, both surprised and not all at the same time. The thought of having someone around to literally spoil him was unthinkable, and something he had never actually experienced. "Oh, I see, so you already want to spoil me. This is a first." Shop and location forgotten, he slid off the windowsill and glanced around to be sure no customers had slipped in unnoticed while they talked - and a little more than that, but that was besides the point. "Oh, for the joys of quiet and slow days."

"Yes I do, got a problem with it?" Belle smirked, pushing a curl over her shoulder as she was also drawn back to the present time and place by Zephyr's movements. She had completely forgotten about being at work, and she was pretty sure her shift was technically over.
"Oh for the joys of having hot, wolfy coworkers." Belle said seriously, managing to keep a straight face as she wrote down her clock out time on the sheet. She didn't plan on leaving just yet, but she felt bad getting paid to stand around and accomplish nothing... as far as the job was concerned, anyway.

"I get the feeling that even if I had a problem with it, it wouldn't make much difference. And I'm not saying this to say I have a problem, either. I don't." Nearly laughing again at his own choice of words and how to phrase things, he shook his head instead and went back to the display of chocolate he'd been studying earlier, now getting an idea of what would be replaced and what wouldn't. His shift was about to start, and he liked to get an idea of what needed to be done first before even starting.
Her next comment made him lift both eyebrows and look over his shoulder, though he couldn't think of a witty - or even proper - response. As such, he didn't say anything.

"Glad to hear that you're already understanding the pecking order in this relationship.' She said with a grin, feeling lighthearted now that she had someone she could trust and confide in. She smirked at the look he gave her and winked, leaning over the counter and picking up her jacket, which she slid on. "Have fun with the chocolate." She waved and headed to the door, humming to herself amusedly. ((Siri ish going to sleep- since this thread is finished, want to start a new one somewhere for these two? I can reply when I wake up tomorrow. ))

(Yep. I'll figure out where to put it and get it started, then get all my other posts in order. Whee for long threads! xD)
"Already putting me in my place..Merlin, I'm whipped." Making sure to say that after she left, Zephyr faked a moan of despair and clocked in, though he would actually spend the remainder of his shift very happy. That was a first after quite a while of working there, and there were even customers that came in. All in all, the best day he'd had in a long time.
