"Happy Wednesday." Repeating the phrase after taking the cone, he chuckled softly and chose a suitable seat - one of the higher windowsills, which took little effort for him to perch on because of his height. Paying attention both to his own chocolatey treat and the way she was acting with hers, he looked both relaxed and amused - both a rarity. "Thanks..I needed a sugar boost something fierce."

"Not a problem. It's more of a thank you, anyway, for not treating me like I'm a freak." She didn't pause in her enjoyment of her ice cream, swinging her feet slightly, her pink heels shiny in the light.
"Besides, on a day like this, everyone could use a sugar boost in order to not fall asleep."

"Wait, why would I treat you like a freak?" Ice cream forgotten halfway to his mouth, he lowered it and glanced over, brow slightly furrowed in confusion. He knew she was usually very quiet, and the only other thing was the gloves she always had. Different every day..but they were always there in one form or another. "I certainly can't judge anyone else."

Belle stopped licking her ice cream and looked up, a small, almost bitter smile on her lips as she raised a brow. She figured her reputation as a freak would have caught up to her by now, but apparently Zephyr had missed the memo. "You haven't heard?" She asked curiously, watching him. He had been at Hogwarts when she had, a year or so ahead of her. Everyone seemed to have known about the incident.... could it be he really didn't, or was he just trying to play it off? She wasn't sure.
Though she didn't question him on it, she frowned at his comment. She didn't know what was so different about him that he would say such a thing, other than he didn't treat her like she was going to start naming off the doomsday of all of his relatives. Hmm. Curious.

"I've heard a lot of things over the years, but I can't put my finger on what you're talking about." Offering it in a bit of a rhetoric manner, he remembered his ice cream as a bit of it dripped down and got onto his sleeve - but he wasn't worried about it yet, as he could clean it off later, before his shift started. "So no, I guess I haven't heard."

"Oh." Belle said, stymied. She stared at her ice cream as if it was going to tell her fortune, trying to make up her mind. She could make an awkward attempt at covering it up by changing the subject, or she could tell him, though she wasn't sure he'd believe her. Not because seers didn't exist, because they did, but because Belle's form of foresight was extremely odd indeed. So... she could show him. An idea she certainly didn't like, but probably the most direct.
She hopped off the counter and threw the last of her cone away, her appetite gone as the idea of skin to skin contact with someone made her feel nauseous. "I... just give me your hand." She sighed, pulling off one of her gloves to show her own pale hand.

Considering her and her request, Zephyr seemed at first as if he was going to say no. Why seeing her take off her glove struck him as strange, he couldn't quite explain..but it did. When it became clear she wanted to do whatever it was rather than explaining, he held out his right hand for her to take, wondering just what in the world he was going to be getting into with this.

Belle supressed the thoughts of what happened the last time she foretold someone's future, and she gently placed his hand in his, blinking when the usual sensation overtook her. However, instead of the movie in her head like she was used to, it was as if someone had set the film on fire- spots were missing as if erased completely, and even then it was nothing conclusive. Trees, it appeared, and what might be the moon above her.
Belle pulled her hand away and blinked to clear her mind, staring at her hand and then his. "I don't get it, that's never happened before." She muttered, more to herself than to him.

Still in the dark about this entire situation and what was supposed to have gone on, Zephyr looked at his hand - nothing had happened to it. "What..was supposed to happen?" He was almost reluctant to ask her, but it felt now as if he needed to know. It was something important, it just had to be.

Belle shook her head at him distractedly, reaching out and taking his hand again. Usually if she touched someone again after breaking contact, Belle recieved a completely different scene from their future, but this time, it was the same trees, the same maybe-moon above. She pulled away again and slid her glove back on, running her hands through her hair. She wasn't sure if she was excited that her "gift" seemed to be broken, or scared that it had gone wonky after all these years.
"I know I probably look like I'm crazy to you now, but you're just going to have to trust me on this... I'm a seer. Not the crystal ball, heavy smoke, ethereal voice crap that probably comes to mind, but a seer nonetheless. I see people's futures when I touch them. I caused a huge... scandal, I guess you could say, when I was at school. But this.... this is weird."

"It takes contact with someone for you to have these visions?" Now looking at things a little bit differently, he had to wonder why her skill wasn't working on him. Just trying to understand it from an outsider's perspective was difficult, so figuring out what made it different was out of the question for him. "I've never heard of that, but..I don't think it makes you a freak."

Belle nodded, still not making direct eye contact with him. "Yes. As far as anyone of import knows, I'm the only seer that's ever had that particular limitation. At least, I'm the only recorded one." Belle made a slightly pained face when he said that he didn't think she was a freak, and she shook her head with a small sigh. "I predicted my best friend's mother's death in school. Unfortunately for me, my gift has never yet been wrong. Well, until you.' Her gaze finally flicked up to his face, looking weary. She didn't normally tell anyone about her skill, because they usually already knew. She didn't know why she felt like she needed to explain herself to Zephyr.

"Would you want this gift the way it is if you had a conscious say in it? Would you choose to be able to see futures without real control over it?" Tone uncharacteristically serious - and oddly gentle at the same time - Zephyr watched her, meeting her eyes as she looked at his face. He normally wouldn't speak this way to someone, but her predicament reminded him of his own issue..and the fact that he also couldn't change it no matter what he did. "If you can say that you honestly don't want this ability, it makes you no freak. We don't always have a say in some of the things that we can't get rid of or change. They're hard to deal with, but..just part of you. Every person in this world is different."

"If I had a choice in the matter, I would rather it come as it pleases- not every time I touch someone. Do you have the slightest idea what it's like not to be able to hug someone because you'll see something horrible happening to them later down the road? I've never had a boyfriend. I can't go anywhere it seems without someone knowing who I am." She held his gaze, slightly taken aback by what she saw there. Maybe not complete understanding, but certainly recognition as another outcast. What was he hiding?
"Spoken like a true insider." She stepped closer, still peering into his eyes as if looking into his soul. "Why can't I see your future?" She asked softly, her voice gentle.

Now the one to look down, Zephyr simply nodded when she explained the situation - and what she'd want. He knew what it was like not to be able to get close to anyone..the reasons weren't the same, by far, but still very similar. She had given him a large clue as to who she was, but could he really say what he was starting to think? There was a vague idea about what might have been going on, but that was bordering on his most closely-guarded secret. "I have an idea about what it may be. Did you see anything when you took my hand?"
