[DRAMATIS PERSONAE]
Name: Astrid Lorelei Black
Nicknames: None, really
Gender: female
Age: 11
Date of birth: January 31
Play By: Saoirse Ronan
[THE MASK]
Hair color: Dull black
Hair style: more straight, but it has a slight wave to it. It falls only to her shoulderblades, and it tends to be frizzy and tangled.
Eye color: blue
Height: 4 11
Weight: 104
Build: Slight- she has no curves yet to speak of, and she looks a few years younger than she actually is.
Fashion: Astrid's clothes are almost always neat. She prefers jeans and a nice shirt, and her fashion sense isn't exactly haute couteur. She doesn't like to be dirty (unlike her brothers and a certain other Black male,) and so she can be a bit of a neat freak when it comes to being outside.
Distinguishing features: Astrid has a small scar on her cheek that she's had since she was four, when she got in the way of a tussle her older brothers were having. She also has freckles and relatively pale skin.
[INNER THOUGHTS]
Overview: Astrid is a pretty even tempered girl. She has a hard time controlling her emotions, and therefore when she's upset, everyone knows it, just as everyone knows when she's happy. Subtlety is not Astrid's strong point. She has a childlike naievete, but she can also be extremely astute in her observations. Astrid can be very loving, but like any child, she can also be cruel when she feels hurt.
She has a mature point of view of the world for her age, knowing that there is light and dark in everything. She hates not being taken seriously, and as her brothers will tell you, she has a predilection for crying when upset or angry.
Likes:
+ books
+ candles
+ rain
+ her godfather
+ hanging out with her friends
+ snowglobes (she collects them)
+ taking long walks in the woods
+ making mischief (as long as she doesn't have to get dirty)
Dislikes:
- being the baby of the family
- always being seen as a kid, and therefore not taken seriously
- getting her clothes dirty
- Fish, both live and dead. They freak her out.
- eating meat (she's a vegetarian)
- chocolate
- windstorms
Habits:
- she never stands too close to her brothers, because it usually involves being knocked over, picked on, etc.
- she forgets to eat when she gets absorbed in a book
- keeping quiet. It's not like she can outtalk her siblings anyway.
- sleeps curled up in a tight little ball.
- can't stand to be by herself during storms because of the wind.
Strengths:
+ Astrid is rather intelligent
+ loyal
+ a good liar
+ has an uncanny knack of finding things that other people lose.
Weaknesses:
- rarely ever is taken seriously by her family, because they see her as the baby.
- A good liar.
- can be lazy, and it is this that affects her schoolwork- not her brains.
- Astrid is more of a follower than a leader.
Fears:
- fish
- windstorms
- her family dying, even though she complains about them a lot.
[BEHIND THE MASK]
Animagus: No, but she wishes she was.
Patronus:
- When able to perform a patronus: A carp, ironically enough. Her logic behind this? A fish is one of the scariest things she can think of, how can the dementors not be afraid of it?
- Memory Used: The summer her father decided quite sporadically they were all going to go camping, and so they built a bonfire and her brothers actually forgot to tease her for that one night.
Mirror of Erised: To not be looked at as a baby by her family, and also to get a pet ferret. (Hey, she's a kid.)
Amortentia: leather, incense, and what she thinks is some sort of expensive shampoo
Veritaserum: N/A
Boggart: Depending, a fish, or something bad happening to her family.
[HOGWARTS INFORMATION]
House: Gryffindor
Wand: eleven inches, willow, unicorn hair
Best subjects: Astronomy and divination
Worst subjects: Transfiguration
Pets: nope. Wants a ferret. Parents not so crazy about the idea.
Hogsmeade trips: nope. Will probably sneak there, though. She is a Black, after all.
[HISTORY]
Astrid was the third child born to the Blacks, and the youngest girl. While she looks very much like her father, Astrid acts more like her godfather Remus, preferring to read rather than play Quidditch (though part of this is because her brothers would never let her play with them when she was younger, and she finally stopped asking.)
She had a fairly normal childhood for a wizarding child, surrounded by her family and her "extended" family- the Lupins and the Potters. Sirius jokes that the marauders' children are interchangeable- one is just as likely to find a Black at the Potter's house, or a Lupin hiding out in the Black's kitchen. This big dysfunctional sort of family meant that when Astrid became too frustrated with her home, she could scamper off to cool down somewhere else without her parents worrying.
Being the baby, Astrid was always treated accordingly. Her brothers think she isn't capable of all the things they are, not only because she's younger, but because she's a girl. Astrid has a close relationship with her mother, and while Sirius dotes on her, he doesn't quite accept Astrid as a logical person, either. So Astrid pretty much keeps her ideas to herself- at least while she's at home.
In true Black fashion, Astrid loves playing jokes on people and causing mischief, and looks for any excuse to do it. She is attending Hogwarts for the first time this year, and it's something Astrid has wanted to do for a while, because she thinks this will finally be her chance to prove her worth.
