The beginning of a new Hogwarts school year was fastly approaching, and Diagon Alley was as crowded as it always was. It was less than a month away, but the school year couldn't seem to come fast enough. It seemed as if everyday Diagon Alley was flooded with other witches and wizards, who were buying things for Hogwarts. It was almost as if the list of needed supplies was an infinite loop, after seeing how crowded Diagon Alley truly was. Well, that was what Hannah thought at least. It was her first year of Hogwarts after all, and she only ventured on a few trips to Diagon Alley before. Thus, she had no idea how busy the Alley was going to get. She assumed that it was all for Hogwarts, seeing other people going into the various shops in the area.
Hannah held her Hogwarts acceptance letter in her hands. She was dressed in a black top, slightly baggy jeans, and black flip flops on her feet. She already managed to pick out a wand, after a while of trying out several wands. Of course, the fact that Olivander's was busy certainly didn't help the situation at all. She managed to break free of her mother's eye for a while, after she was able to obtain her wand. Despite knowing about magic her whole life so far, it still amazed her that she could perform spells with a piece of wood. A branch, made with a magical core on the inside. It seemed like such a trivial object, yet it was exactly that trivial object that allowed her to perform the spells that she would need to master later in Hogwarts.
With a short sigh, Hannah took her hazel eyes off the piece of parchment that she gripped in her hands. She managed to have a little trouble looking up at the shop signs around her, after all the place was busy. There managed to be a good crowd of tall people around the area as well, that inhibited her sight too far. Thus, it probably wasn't the smartest move on her part to go shopping for a few items by herself. Yet, she wanted to go and do it by herself. She certainly would have to learn how to search for things by herself at Hogwarts, so why not start now since it was less than a month before the magical castle accepted the students in?
After a few moments of searching around, Hannah noticed the Flourish and Blotts sign above the shop. 'Might as well start at the book store,' she thought to herself. Her acceptance letter stated the various books that she needed, and she figured that it wouldn't be that hard to find the books. After all, the shop had to supply a majority, if not all, of the Hogwarts students with their textbooks. Weaving her way through the throngs of people, she managed to make it to the Flourish and Blotts entrance.
With a pull, Hannah opened up the door to the book store. This store wasn't as crowded as the main alley way was, but there were still people occupying it for the time being. With a shrug, she edged herself over to the selection of Hogwarts textbooks, and began to search for the right ones.

The red haired Slytherin couldn't be happier that school would resume once more. One more month and she'd be back inside those huge walls. Though she'd miss her baby brother she'd live and so would he. As it was at the moment she had a few more things to gather before her second year could begin. One more book and a few more quills and bottles of ink. Making her way through KnockTurn Alley, with Jeffer tagging along at her heels, without a care she reached Diagon Alley, she knew there were others ways here without going through the darker alley and streets around KnockTurn but it wasn't so bad. She was use to it and well capable of taking care of herself. She had been for years, now, wasn't as if her mother was much help as she was.
Making quick strides towards Flourish and Blotts, Thea slipped easily enough between the crowds of people, now this she had to admit was more like it. The great Hogwarts rush. There were enough 'kids' her age milling about with their parents some alone. Thea among the 'alone' crowed. She looked too like she pefered it. Dressed in all black, barring a pair of cargo stlye camo colored pants. Her shrit was fishnet style, under it a black and white striped tank top. She wore lots of jewlery an chains. She looked more muggle 'gothic' just then that she did Hogwarts witch, but she didn't care. She always dressed like that, chains hidden of course and her Hogwarts robe on too.
Pulling the door open she slipped inside, making her way towards the section she needed easily, the last book she needed was for her Charms Class. Surely it was in by now, last she'd checked they were out. But with school just around the bend surly they'd have them. As she walked to the section she glanced around absently, so many here, clearly future first years. She didn't see any of the second years about, but no matter it wasn't as if she friends she'd meet here.
Finally at her section she paused. Jeffer mew softly and leapt up onto her shoulders. "Jeff.." She whispered. ".. you crazy fool cat, hush. You're not suppose to be in here.." She told him. As she scratches his ears lightly. Moving around down an isle quickly, she almost ran right into another girl. Sighing in relief she blinked, "Sorry.." She said starting to move around the girl, but paused noticing the all to familiar letter head she'd gotten just last year. "First year at Hogwarts eh?" Thea asked though it was obvious, touching the spine of a book, "That's one you need. First year potions, is on the back wall, right about eye level." She offered with a smile. Thea was in a very good mood today, school was starting back soon and she couldn't wait.

The many volumes of books in front of her took Hannah by surprised. The idea of magic didn't cause the surprise, but it was the great variety of books on magic. Naturally, she would highly doubt that Hogwarts would be able to teach all the students every little piece of information about magic. In addition, a good portion of that information would probably not even be available for the students to read while at Hogwarts. But, the various books, on a variety of subjects, seemed just so monumental.
Naturally, Hannah would have to attribute a part of the massive selection of books to the start of Hogwarts. The store would have to supply all the students with their books, and thus would have multiple copies of the same book. She would assume that the bookstore ordered enough books to fit the demand of the entering Hogwarts students for another year.
At the same time, Hannah still worried about gathering her supplies too late. Even if the stores had enough stock, that didn't necessarily reflect that the quality of the stock. Stock that was left until the end of the season would normally have some form of defect, or that it was possible that the item was of no use to begin with. Whether or not her fears were baseless, wasn't something that she even thought about. But, since she was a first year, and had never been through any of the school shopping yet, it seemed like a legitimate concern to her.
After taking a few moments of browsing on the shelf, Hannah finally found the Herbology textbook. Looking back down at the list, she noticed that the next book was for Potions class. Quickly scanning around the area that she was in, she didn't recognize the book on the shelf at all. Looking back down at the list, she made sure that she had the right name. Again, she checked the bookcase in front of her. Intuitively, she was unable to find the book.
Just as she was about to skip over the book and go to the next one, Hannah was almost walked into by another girl. Alarmed, she quickly moved out of the way, so she didn't accidentally hit the girl. "It's fine," she responded, and then looked back down at the list. She was certainly hoping to find all the books on the list. Startled, yet again, that the girl was talking to her, she nodded at the question. "Uh, yeah, I am. Do you go to Hogwarts?" she asked. curiously. It probably seemed rather obvious that the other girl was, but clearly she was having a problem finding her books. Looking at the book that the girl was talking about, she nodded at the directions that were given to her. "Thanks," she responded with a smile.
Hannah was about to go get it, when she realized that it would be helpful if she could be directed to where the other books were, as well. After all, who knew how much more trouble she would have while trying to find the books? "Um, If you don't mind, would you know where the other books are? Like Defense Against the Dark Arts, or Transfiguration?" she asked, hoping that the girl wouldn't mind.

The books were quite overwelming, even Thea would admit even now with one year under her belt finding books wasn't always easy. The book store usually didn't change. Books didn't get moved around often, but still to each year it took a bit to find the books for each term if they weren't in the most logical of places. She thought it would be so much easier if all the books for each year were together. But as it was they were scattered about. The Defense Against the Dark Arts for example, was in with some of the darker books, ones that no first year in Hogwarts should be seeing.
Thea wasn't like any Slytherin she knew, in fact she loved her studies. She tried to stay ahead of the lessons enough that she was prepared for the next few classes when she could. It was hard though when she wanted to be that much ahead during the summer. As early as she sometimes like to , sometimes in doing that she tried to get books to early and the ones she needed wanted and needed weren't always avaliable. While she always had the means thanks to her dad the book store didn't always deliver so early.
The shelves were overwheling Thea knew that, but for her she was in the book store enough she knew each shelf like the back of her hand. Even before her letter from Hogwarts came Thea had always loved reading and learning, it was a way to get her out of her mother's house.
Still stroking Jeffer's head lightly she moved aside a bit, smiling lightly at the younger girl. "My cat kinda startled me.. crazy boy follows me like a shadow.." She said making conversation then nodded at the question of her being at Hogwarts. "Yep, second year Slytherin." She said, even offering her house. She didn't care really, and if anything by helping her Thea was showing that she wasn't like the stereotype of Slytherins. Nodding again, "No problem." She said starting to go seek her own book and leave the younger girl to her search.
Thea smiled not minding at all to help her out. "Yea, sure. Transfig. is easy it's on this isle right down there." She said pointing down the row, "Snag that one and I'll show you where the DADA book is, that ones a litte tricker. And Care of Magical Creatures and Charms too but they're easier than the Dark Arts" Thea replied, willing to help, she could get her book on the way to the Dark Arts book. "I'm Thea by the way." She added offering her name and a smile.
