it is getting closer, more intense, ever spinning, twisting turning roller coaster! Diagon alley was always full of people rushing around and doing their shopping, there was never a day when the street did not have crowds littering it and the noise of voices everywhere. The street was a popular place for witches and wizards from all over England, and the world, to come and shop or just meet up with old friends. There weren’t just crowds outside; the shops that lined either side of the cobbled road were full to bursting with magical people of all ages. It was easy for someone to get lost in the multitude of people all over the place. Especially if that person was quite small and easily excitable.
Charlie pushed through the crowds at the side of the street, looking in the shop windows as he passed them. Some displays were wild and colourful, displaying brooms and paintings; others were boring but still held interesting objects like books or potions equipment. Charlie couldn’t wait until he stared Hogwarts, when he could buy all of this stuff and use it in lessons. It was still quite a way off but still exiting, he was going to go to Hogwarts! What house would he be in? Probably Gryffindor like mum and dad, but it may be something different. Well, it didn’t really matter as long as he was there!
But where was mum now? He looked around the crowds, she was there, somewhere. He had been next to her, then he had seen something in a window which had caught his attention, what was it... brooms! Yes, that had been it. Brooms. But hadn’t mum been right next to him? He was slightly worried now, not that he was lost, and he could deal with that. But if mum noticed he was missing, which she would, she might get worried and then when she found him she might get angry at him which was definitely a bad thing. So he had to find her before that happened, it was the most important thing in the world for him right now.
He walked into the middle of the street and slowly revolved on the spot, searching the crowds of people nearest to him. Where was she? She had to be around here somewhere, he hadn’t gone very far at all. He bit his lip as he stared through the people, hoping to catch a sight of his mum. Come on... he though, she was here, I know it! “Mum?” He called, causing a few people by him to turn and stare at him for a moment. “Mum?” He repeated, walking forwards slightly, his brown eyes moving over the mass of people in front of him.

----------------- Now I don't hardly know her but I think I could love herCrimson & Clover I wish wish she'd come walking over. ----------------- The market place at Diagon Alley had to be one of the most magical places in all the world. Lily though as she guided her youngest through its streets. She felt it was of great importance to teach her children about the Muggle World and the Magical one as well. The fact she was Muggle born was one of the key reasons for this. Lily knew as Half-Bloods her children had the best of both worlds. People to guide them into either life that they wanted to live. Her parents had been fascinated and amazed by everything proud to have a witch in the family. They had loved her, it wasn't always that way with Muggles who found out about magic. Lily was one of those woman who had always wanted to be a mother. It showed in how she took care of everyone around her. Today she and Charlie were out and about, she was planning on having lunch. She had already gotten her last minute supplies this was a leisure trip to be certain. Charlie would be going to Hogwarts very soon like Harry was this year. She knew he was hopping to go to school. She didn't miss that fact. It was something to be accepted into Hogwarts. Lily was proud of all her children. No matter what House her son went into she'd be glad of it. She figured Gryffindor for him, he was literally interested in all the same things she was. Lily gave all her children an edge by showing them things early on. With he and Lilith only a year apart it was easy to teach them both. When they weren't having brother;y and sisterly rows with one another.
Lily didn't hold his hand, Charlie was nine he would most likely want to be independant of that. With Lilith it was different she liked the contact. The red haired witch had learned a long time ago to not smoother her children otherwise they would revolt against it. She'd seen it enough with other familys. So she spent the majority of the time with a small hand resting on his shoulder or upper arm. Especially in this huge crowd of people. Many of whom had not gotten there shopping done yet and were in a hurry. Lily didn't believe in putting off tomorrow what she could do today. Clad in her witch robes, white with black trim the new Charms Professor was fairly good at stirring him through the crowd. Like him she was peering in windows. Though she didn't like to spoil her children, she did believe in treating them when they were out. If something caught the attention they would go and look at it. If something was to expensive for a casual present, it might appear for a birthday or holiday. It was her opinion you were only a child once, and you should love the experience. Part of what made her the motherly sort she was. She was never to strict but she wasn't about to let her children do as they saw fit without common sense attatched.
Someone with a load of stuff brushed past them and Lily had to let go of the light grip she'd kept on her son. Spinning to the side like a dancer might to avoid being clocked by a wrapped up broom. She bit back a watch where your going because she was generally too polite for such a thing. Still she had to slip among the people there and she realized that she did not see her youngest son. 'Charlie ?" she called out softly. Emerald eyes scanning the crowd. It was times like this being short was never a good thing. So she hurried admist the crowd calling for him even as he seemed to be calling for her. She could hear someone calling for there mum. Any mother worthy of such title would know her children's voice. So she pressed herself to the stone wall of a building. Got her bearings and the Willow Wand she wore tucked into her hair came to hand she pointed the tip to the ground. "Expecto Patronum the end of her wand flashed silver and the radiance took the shape of her Patronus a silvery doe that looked up to her with concern and than went bounding through the crowd carefully so not to be tred on to where Charlie was. Her message was simple. For the little boy to follow it to the large window with all the toy soliders. It was the toy store and all the children knew how to find it.
Lily herself did not wait she Popped from the spot she was in instantly to the Toy Store to make sure she was there to meet with her Patronus. Already she was chanting softly to herself a spell that would lead her to Charlie should he not be able to find his way to her. The small orb in her palm flickered like a fire fly or a golden snitch as Lilith had once said. It was green though and reflected many lights. One of Lily's own spells. Only known to herself, James and Severus. Where Charlie was another little ball of energy burst into being, it would be any color he favored to keep his attention, and led him along so the two balls of energy could meld together. There was a small shower of sparkles when the two globes united and the spell would fade. So leaned against the wall she looked through the crowd for him though moved in the direction he'd be coming to her from.
[/blockquote][/blockquote] ----------------- [x]StatusFinished [x]Words1134 [x]Tags Charlie [x]Notes The spell she made offers protection from dark magic and thus the little ball floats around in front of him. When the globes meet up it makes pretty lights. Just because your mom is odd like that. LOL. [x]Music Sorcerer-Stevie Nicks [x]Clothing White and Black Witch Robes.

it is getting closer, more intense, ever spinning, twisting turning roller coaster! Charlie let his eyes wander over the people around him, but he had decided to not move from his spot. If he moved he might get further and further away from his mum, instead of getting closer to her like he wanted to. He may be small but he could have a logical thought or two. He managed to stay where he was stood though many things caught his eye and made him want to go and look at it. He had to stay where he was, mum would get really mad if he wandered off some more. Yes, that was definitely a good reason to stay where he was.
His hopeless staring around him had acquired himself a few stares himself, he must look odd, a little boy stood in the middle of the street alone. Many people would guess that he was lost, just the fact that you don’t really see many nine year olds alone. A few women asked him if he was lost, but he said nothing to them. No talking to strangers, he repeated in his head, if you don’t know them don’t talk to them. It’s the rule. He had to wait for mum to find him, or at least do something to help the situation.
He looked up once more at the crowd, he was sure he had heard mum, he was certain. But where was she? He still couldn’t see her. He wasn’t worried about being lost; no he was fine with that, wasn’t he? The idea of being alone wasn’t exactly something he would like; he wanted to be with mum. Being alone was slightly scary- just slightly though! He was too big to be terrified right now, he would just wait because mum had to find him, and she just had to. He couldn’t stay lost forever, could he? That wasn’t exactly a heart warming idea.
Charlie was astonished when a large silver doe came out of the crowd to the side of him, and joy filled him. That was mums patronus! He had seen her conjure it a few times before and there was no mistaking it. He had never seen this before though, the patronus with a message for him? Well, it must be from mum but it was just odd. The toy store? He knew exactly where that was! He was looking down the street, so it was to his side. He was finally going to get back to mum! Being lost was not fun, not at all. But now he had to find a way through the large crowd.
He gasped slightly when he saw a bright orange ball in front of him, it was glowing and floating. Was this mum’s magic too? He knew that she was good at making up stuff. He wondered whether this would help him find her exactly, and maybe help him through the crowds. As he walked up to it did move into a gap between a few people, that was his answer then, yes. He followed the little sparkling ball happily, as it led him through the masses of people who crowded the street. The ball was quite pretty, the colour and the way that it let out lots of little lights.
Finally! When his mum came into his view a wide grin came onto his face, quickly to be replaced by a sheepish look. Was he going to be in trouble because she couldn’t find him? He hoped not, but he wasn’t the judge on that anyway, it was up to his mum. He looked up at her, a slightly worried look in his eyes. He knew he shouldn’t have moved away at that moment, he didn’t mean to! “I’m sorry mum,” He said quietly, choosing to place his gaze to his feet for a moment.

----------------- Now I don't hardy know her but I think I could love herCrimson & Clover I wish wish she'd come walking over. -----------------
How this all came to be was a mystery to Lily since one minute he was there and the next he simply was not. The red-haired witch knew better than to panic and she knew to immediately use the discipline of the occulmency lessons she'd been learned with Severus to clamp down on her own thoughts and her own concerns. She had to remember is she was that worried how her son must be feeling as well. That gave her the needed common sense she luckily had passed on to her children. To function properly in this situation. Around her people were milling and the closer to the lunch hour it became the more the area crowded. One or two people stopped to ask her if she'd lost something as she was peering and about the four foot level. She'd even bumped into goblin or two. Which had given her a dark look and continued on there way to there lunch or jobs which ever they were planning on going to.
She had always told him that if he was lost to stay put if he wasn't in immediate danger so she could find him. With Deatheaters running around freely and Voldermort still lurking. Lily didn't want to scare her children or have them feel they had to grow up to fast.So she did what any with of exceptional power would do. She enchanted her little ones. She gave them protections. It was those protections that had allowed her to make sure they were safe or in good health. Anyone attempting to dispell one of those enchantments would need a curse breaker in a matter of moments. Since her backlash spells were not the best. Anyone trying to remove the location spell would find themselves cut up badly. When it came to her children there was nothing Lily wouldn't do to protect them. So naturally the Charms Mistress used everything at hand to ensure there safty. Sure some of the spells she placed was a bit drastic or would be to anyone who hadn't given birth to said child and felt such a connection to them.
it was only a manner of making sure she could get a message to him. Lily was not able to broadcast her thoughts. Though she thought that might be a spell worth looking into in all honesty. So in her stead she sent her Patronus the glowing silver doe like all Patronus's could deliever messages once you mastered the spell. She was an Order Member it had come natural to her. The Patronus stay close to Charlie at least until the magic that had summoned it ebbed and she faded but by than Charlie was well on his way to where the Toy Store was and the spell wasn't really needed anyways. As the little glowing ball of energy had come into being. Lily had not figured out how to add her voice to that one-yet. It was the first time she'd been lost from one of her children. The ball that floated in front of her was the bright green that flickered like a snake twirling around in the globe. Though it was also shot through with bright red bobbed above the crowd so its orb mate could better find it. Her own orb twirled and danced around people waiting. Though most people accepted that as just normal it was Diagon Alley after all.
She heard him before she saw him, the shuffle of sneakered feet and she sighed to herself flooded with relief and warmth. Thank goodness he was okay. No Lily wasn't the type to get mad at her children for there curiosity she had been little better as a girl. She had gotten lost in downtown London for a whole day. Though luck and maybe a little bit of magic had helped her find her way onto the proper bus that would deliever her home safe and soundly. To her it would be hypocritical to punish a child for wandering especially when he hadn't meant to. She did not subscribe to parenting harshly she had seen what had occured in the Snape household as a girl and didn't want to traumatize her children. Her own parents had been her role models. They were good parents they had raised her and Tuney very well. So no matter what was going on in her life her children were important to her the most important thing to her.
The two little balls of energy collided and they errupted into a shower of sparkling lights the shame shades as the glow they had held. Lily wasn't interested in the sparkles though . Her son's wide grin and hurried step was met by her own."Oh, Charlie.." she breathed softly. 'Thank Merlin." she murmured as she pulled him close and hugged him. "Don't be sorry, curiosity is natural, you never learn if you do not explore." she whispered as she hugged him tightly. "I was bumped and lost contact with you as well. You did very good. No tears or anything." she touched his cheek smiling approvingly at him. "You have be careful and you know why." she added. Speaking of the Dark Lord, Lily would use the name she wasn't afraid of the man. Though not here in witch and wizard central. She rubbed her hand over her face and ruffled her other hand through his hair. Offering a hand. "Well than..all the mushy stuff out of the way." though there was a smile on her face. "Shall we see what new toys are in ?" she nodded to the Toy Store. "Seems a shame to be here in front of it and not go in and have a good look around." she didn't want him to think she was upset with him.

it is getting closer, more intense, ever spinning, twisting turning roller coaster! Charlie was anxious to see the response he would get from his mum for his disappearance, but he still kept his eyes on the floor and a remorseful look on his face. His mum was never really that strict with him, but then again people could change their moods quickly without warning. It would just be best to be prepared for the worse; at least you wouldn’t be disappointed. You would get exactly what you expected or better, there was nothing really wrong with that was there? Unless she got really, really angry at him, but she didn’t really expect that, she was just too nice for that.
Relief flooded through him as he pulled him into a hug, and he hugged her back. He wasn’t in trouble! And he was just glad to see her again, when he had been lost in the maze of people he didn’t know when he would see her again, though he realised now that it had been quite a silly though. Of course he would see his mum again, she had her spells, and if now she would look for him, all day if she had too. She loved him and she wouldn’t stop looking until she found him here, and if she didn’t she would be very sad about it.
Had she been scared that he had been lost? Probably. He had been scared- only slightly though! He hasn’t been very scared at all really, no, better than that. He had been fine. He was sure of it; he wasn’t a cry-baby. He was better than that, he hardly ever cried. He only did it a few times when he was really upset or afraid. This had been fine; he would have eventually got back to mum anyway. No-one could stay lost forever, it was impossible. Unless someone had taken them away, that was something that he didn’t want to think about much.
He nodded when she spoke of why he should be careful. She had told him slightly of the danger; he was glad that he hadn’t thought of that while he had been lost. It would have made him feel worse that he had already done, not a good thing to do when you were trying hard to be brave and not to cry and stuff. Thinking that Death Eaters were out there, not a way to calm someone really, Especially since Death Eaters liked to go to Knockturn Alley, the small dingy alley that branched off of Diagon alley. That was just a bit too close for his liking.
Charlie brightened up after his thoughts when his mum suggested that they go inside the toy store. The toy store?! Why would he say no to that, he loved it! They had so many things, some magical and some not. He didn’t really care what they were, muggle things were okay. Maybe they weren’t as exiting as magical objects were, but they still did the things that they were supposed to do, in this case entertain people like him. And muggles also made other good things, like electric. Which they used instead of magic to power things. Charlie didn’t really understand it much, but he still thought it was rather cool.
“Yes please!” He said happily, taking her hand. Though she wasn’t showing it if it was true, could she be a little upset with him? She had said that she had lost contact with him but it was also partly his fault for walking off a little. He bit his tongue slightly at this thought, though his eyes still sparkled brightly up to his mum. It was his fault, did she believe he was sorry?

----------------- Now I don't hardy know her but I think I could love herCrimson & Clover I wish wish she'd come walking over. -----------------
All of her children were a handful, Lily was not one of those mothers who would berate a child for slipping off even in these times. She herself had been a free spirit growing up if you held to tightly to a your children they would resent you for it. While she had no concerns of that with Charlie being only nine. It was a good practice to allow him some freedom to be himself. She was very good at protections and locations on her family and in general keeping up with them. Family was the most important thing to Lily her children being her whole world. He was looking down at his feet and Lily sighed aloud and brushed her fingers gently through his hair. "Aww come on than." she said quietly. "I was similiar in downtown London as a little girl." she told him. "I wandered away for a whole day." she explained with a chuckle. "I understand the lure of other things, I think widely alot of parents in there concern for the well being of there babies, forget we were all there at one point, and that we did the same thing to our own parents." her words heartfelt. "No harm done."
"You did very well." she told him when she hugged him. "Always follow Mommies instructions when your lost and she will always come find you." Lily promised as she smiled down at the little boy. Giving him an extra squeeze as she did."No matter what happens either in the Muggle World or here. Charlie if your lost I will come for you." she winked up at him. "Its what a good mother does." that she could say it was what a good mother does was saying it was what her mother would do and she had learned from who she precieved to be the best. Molly Weasley was a close second to look up to when it came to mothering. "Your father would worry..." she said "So careful about mentioning this to him." as an Auror James dealt with the worse of things of the wizarding world, and she knew it wore on him from time to time. He'd worry more than needed she suspected it was best if she mentioned it in passing.
Had she been afraid ? Oh she could still feel fear, she was Gryffindor through and through though. She was brave and resourceful. She had felt fear, not fear for herself fear for him. Still she trusted herself and she knew her magic was strong. Horace Slughorn still had a small bowl with a lily fish in it she had made him in her fifth year as a gift. He named it Francese. Lily knew her enchantments would hold. Still it was that motherly concern for there off spring that had spurred her to action and that had made her worry. None of her kids were cry babies they were all very much like her. Fearless to a level that could get them in a world of trouble. Yet, still they had inherited a level of cunning from Lily that would also serve them. She had taught them how to fend for themselves. There was only one way she was going to allow them to take any of her kids away. That was over her dead body. Though she'd never say as much to her children she didn't want to scare them about loosing her. Lily wasn't given to Dark Magics, but she had dabbled in them in her Youth, which made her more dangerous than most would know. She'd just understood when enough was enough and left off study before it became a obsession.
Lieing to her children about a situation seemed wrong. She might have candy coated them so they were easier to understand. Though the older her little one's got the more they were told. Explained. She didn't believe in promoting ignorance. Thus her children were already learning for school. She was showing Lilith and Charlie Potions because they both seemed to like them and have a knack towards them. Once they had wands she'd begin teaching them charms on a level above normal if they took to it. She wanted them to be the best little wizards and witches they could be after all. As though reading his thoughts Lily tipped her head to the side her gaze traveling to the side alley he was looking at and she quirked a brow, "Oh, don't you worry about Knockturn Alley Charile." she whispered. "Know this..I am ten times meaner than anything down there when it comes to anyone trying to hurt whats mine." Knockturn Alley was a place Lily had been before. Some ingrediants for potions were found there. She didn't have a dislike of the place but she wasn't all happy with it either. Dark Magics could be bought down there.
After standing back to her full height from hugging him she adjusted the heavy black hood back over her hair and made sure to keep an eye on her son as she did. Lily still enjoyed Muggle stuff. She missed it when she was in the Wizarding World. One of the many reasons that she had taken to staying at her old Family neighborhood as well. Lily never tried to make her kids stay on either side. They were apart of both of the worlds. Her own and James. She liked to get magical toys for the kids that tested there minds, but she also felt they should be free to be children too. Lily could have explained the whole electricity thing to him if he really wanted to know. Batteries made some of the little robot toys she'd gotten the boys a Christmas ago work. It was certain that none of her kids would ever fail Muggle Studies. She had taught them all well and she knew it so did they. Hopefully it wouldn't make them to arrogant in school.
"Okay" she said as she smiled down at him. No Lily wasn't even a little bit upset at him. She was just so very glad that she had him back. He was in one piece not shook up or anything. There had been a werewolf attack here awhile back and Selena had been bit. She knew that the girl was copeing better than her mother on that. Still terrible things could happen when left alone. So no she wasn't upset she was just glad he was alright. When his fingers entwined with hers Lily tugged him along gently and pushed open the door so the light that fell on them was the multi colors of a prism stepping into the toy store. The place here was large and had little toy soliders all marching about. This place made movies like Toy Story seem boring. She always enjoyed watching the toys though she had never actually played with them. Well she'd played with the kids with theres but she motioned around them. "Stay in the store, eh Charlie ?" she advised as she glanced to him. She hugged him again on impulse and winked "I'm not even the slightest bit mad at you." she whispered. "Just glad your okay." she still allowed him to explore and be a little boy. Though under her watchful gaze. She paused a couple of time to look over items. Picking up a few here and there for her kids.
