Another planned afternoon in Diagon Alley, and Selena had finally passed the trip up for the first time in a week and a half. Shawn seemed bound determined to make time speed up with his daily trips, but it was something she had finally grown tired of. The encroaching full moon cycle was starting to affect her demeanor and moods, which was another reason she'd almost flatly refused to go with her twin. She would have to apologize for the incident later, but at the time was too irritated to speak civilly.
Flipping through a few of the new(to her) textbooks she'd obtained for the upcoming school year, she finally grew bored with that and flipped the book shut. Setting it down with the others at one end of her dresser, she grabbed one of her notepads, a quill and a bottle of ink, then headed out of her bedroom and into the kitchen. Sitting down at the kitchen table with those supplies in hand, she set them up and took the stopper out of the inkwell. Even when outside of school, she preferred that method of writing to the Muggle equivalent - it came out less mechanized, as controlling the ink flowing from the quill was an art in and of itself.
Starting to write out a few recent ideas she'd had, she took comfort in the silence for the time being. Her mother was at work, her father was out on business and Shawn had gone window-shopping again, so she had the apartment to herself for the time being.

Even that sidewalk felt hot underneath his shoes as Remus walked home on the humid English summer day. He was sweating a bit underneath his nice white button up shirt but he didn’t mind so much. He looked curiously at the muggles around him. He could’ve easily flooed back to the apartment but occasionally, Remus liked to simply do things himself without the use of magic in every single tiny aspect of his life. God gave him legs. Might as well use them. Besides with approaching full moon, it made him feel a bit more human even if this was the time of month he turned into a complete monster.
In short, he didn’t like to think about it.
Mounting the stairs of the apartment complex, he took long slow strides upwards. The building wasn’t terribly large but in this heat, they were a tad exhausting. But he ascended without complaint reaching the top apartment. He jiggled the doorknob surprised to find it unlocked. Cora was at work. Shawn and Selena was usually out. Remus pushed open the door, peeking in. Immediately feeling relief from the sun as the cool air from inside rushed in, he was still hesitant about waltzing in. A rather odd feeling considering it was his own bloody house. Still, he hadn’t been expecting anyone to be home so early in the day (yes 5pm being early in the Lupin household). Subconsciously becoming apprehensive, he put a hand in his pocket, taking hold of the end of his wand.
“Hey, whose home?” he called out.

Glancing up warily as she heard footsteps outside of the door, Selena belatedly realized that the door had to be unlocked - Shawn had forgotten to lock it on his way out. Slipping the hand that was currently empty into her jeans pocket, she tugged on her wand - though what she could do if it was someone unwanted was beyond her. Second years were definitely not allowed to do magic outside of school, and the realization made her heart pound all the way up in her throat. She had forgotten one of the basic rules that existed in the Lupin household, and now she would probably regret it.
Setting the quill down with a shaky hand, she slipped out of the chair as quietly as she could and drew her wand completely out of her pocket, holding it in rather nerveless fingers. Seconds later, she heard a familiar and very welcome voice, and nearly dropped her wand in relief. Putting it down on her notebook and nearly collapsing back onto the chair, she let out a breathy laugh. "I'm in the kitchen, dad. Shawn forgot to lock the door on his way out." Keeping the explanation simple for the time being, she retrieved her quill but didn't start writing again yet. That could wait, especially after that little scare.
