The hearts start breaking as the year is gonethe dream's beginning and time rolls on~ * ~ * ~ Marcel licked the ice cream drop off his fingers, glancing up at the sky. It looked like it might rain, or it could just be getting dark earlier as fall slowly gave up one by one to winter. He had escaped Landry manor early that morning with a pocketful of galleons, hoping that visiting the broom store and the ice cream parlor might cheer him up, but so far no good. He couldn't wait for school to be back in session- he was sick of listening to his father berate him to his face, and completely tired of his mother's maniacal rantings. It was enough to make him want to run away sometimes, dealing with them. Some people should never be allowed to have children.
He bit down on his cone, letting his eyes drift closed. Maybe he'd catch the Knight Bus to Hogsmeade, and then go stroll the grounds at school. Then again, that was sort of lame. It was unwritten teenage rule that you were never supposed to want to be at school, even when you didn't have to. Especially over summer break. Looked like he was stuck at home.

The weather promised rain and that was just fine with the Veela. She rathered loved and adored rain. She had been at the Landry Manor for the evening discussing the young man at hand with his father. His father could not see what she could in him. If asked she'd have said that Tom Riddle didn't seem like much at first either. Though very few knew such secrets and she wasn't about to break ancient trusts that had been her's for far to long. Aesterie knew the boy had escaped into the morning because she had been up as well. She followed admitted quietly to see what he was up to if it was mischief she'd have just shadowed him. Since he seemed inclined to having ice cream and treating himself out. She felt a surge of protectiveness. Why was it he had to treat himself the boy should have his mother or father there to spend with him. There was nothing she could see wrong with the boy. It wasn't hard to charm people where she went, a smile and a toss of her hair and she could usually get her way. This helped alot when she was in the field after all.
"I do believe you forgot your umbrella this morning." she said in a warmer tone than she used with the others. Her hair was pulled up and cliped back with a shell clip her wand was slipped up her sleeve. Clad in grey and Maroon Witch Robes. She looked like she fit right in there. Aside for the wild look most full blood Veela had and the pull they could place on a man. She never bothered to use this unless she really wanted something. The fun was always in the chase for her. Like prey it was fun to see people squirm and realize they couldn't break from her will. This was different though, she had been a nanny and to that end she was inclined more so towards children. If you treated them well you weren't forgotten. She was holding a small cup that held an ice cream sundate. "So why did you slip away so early, I mean I know the place is boring and dead in the morning." she said conversationally. "I can say its not much more fun in the afternoon either. Unless your father is in fine form than it can be...entertaining." she motioned around them. "Have you done your shopping yet ? Gotten your school robes ?"

The hearts start breaking as the year is gonethe dream's beginning and time rolls on~ * ~ * ~ Marcel looked up when he was addressed, taking a moment to recognize Asterie. He smiled, pleased to see a friendly face. "Hey. Did you follow me?" He didn't think most people would look for him in the ice cream parlor, but he didn't mind, even if she had. He could use some company. "I don't need an umbrella- it's not raining yet." He pointed out, gesturing for her to join him at his small table.
"Why do you think I ducked out?" Marcel replied rhetorically, taking another bite of the cone. "Even I can only stand so many loathing looks before I need to leave." He finished the last bite of his cone and wiped his fingers on a paper towel, leaning back in his chair. He was casually dressed today in a Slytherin quidditch shirt and a pair of jeans, his hair messy as usual. Marcel wasn't bad looking, if he didn't seem to be perpetually confused about where he was and what he was supposed to be doing. Years of being sneered at for everything he did made him unsure of himself, and to some people, he came across as slow-witted. This wasn't the case at all. The boy was extremely intelligent when he applied himself. He just didn't do it often. "Yeah, I'm finished shopping. What were you doing at home today, anyway?"

"Well of course I did." she answered like that should have been the most obvious thing in the world. She flashed him a dazzling smile when he offered her a seat. "Thank you." she said joining him at the small table. She knew where to look for him when he went missing unlike other people she kept an eye on him. There was that were-wolf attack a bit back and since than anyone she concidered under her wing was closer watched. Never doubt she'd stand down a werewolf threatening her own but she'd rather not and say she did. She glanced heaven wards and sniffed the air like a wolf might shaking her head at him. "Maybe not at the moment but soon." she told him. "The storms have been out of no where lately. I like that its great fun." she admitted.
"Actually I don't mind such looks." she winked at him. "It means your irritating them. Getting under the skin." a cruel little smile framed her lips."You just have to learn how to push buttons properly." she took a scoop of ice-cream and enjoyed it. "You learn by watching people and seeing how they interact with others. Than you take that and use it to your advantage." she said. "Take that young man over there." she said nodding to another student there with his girlfriend."Because of what I am I attract the opposite sex like bee's to flowers." she rolled her eyes. "Now if I were to flirt with him I could get him in trouble with his girl friend, for no other reason than I can." she said "So its about having power and using it. Once you learn that trick you'll do better." she said and reach out a hand to gently pat his hand. "The world is full opertunites, learn to seize the ones you want." she had returned to her ice cream the idea of playing with the other student gone. She glanced up when he asked her about being at home. "Oh, you know the usually Flirting with your father..seeing what's going on in other news. Checking in on you." she said "I don't spend alot of time reading news papers and the such so its good the be ontop of current events." the words came smoothly as she answered him.
"Given any thought on what you plan to study ?" she asked. "Quidditch is a fun game but you should have some decent skills to back you up." she added."I will teach you a few spells if you like if you get your wand."

The hearts start breaking as the year is gonethe dream's beginning and time rolls on~ * ~ * ~ "Why would you want to?" Marcel asked, raising a brow at her. He was damn good at irritation when he wanted to be irritating- particularly when it came to people outside of his family. However, it was the childish desire to earn his parent's pride and respect that kept him from messing too much with them. Particularly his mother, who would have very few qualms about poisoning him if he got on her nerves. "Seems like a waste of time to me." He shrugged. Then again, he didn't much see the point in flirting, either. Only one girl had ever caught his attention, and he had never even spoken to her. So much for that.
Besides, if a girl ever met my parents she'd run away screaming.
He made a face when she mentioned flirting with his father. "Did I really have to know that?" He wasn't stupid- he knew that his father had his "bedwarmers" that were far away from his wife, but it didn't mean that Marcel wanted to hear about it. Particularly when it was someone he was close to, such as Asterie.
He pulled out his wand from his pocket and set it on the table. "Three steps ahead of you." He smirked.

She says that love
Is for Fools Who Fall Behind I'm somewhere between I never really know A Killer from a Savior ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ She thought about the question for a moment than shrugged her shouders 'Why not?" she inquired. "When you get to my age you take entertainment where you can find it." she answered taking another spoon of the ice cream."It might also just be part of the make up of what I am...I could have wound up a cheerleader for some Quidditch Game.." she rolled her eyes. "I like my life much better." she understood where he was coming from though. She could see the need for acceptance in him. The desire to grasp onto what ever he could to make his parents proud of him. Problem was Alex no matter how much fun he was never saw the boy's achievements just his failures. His mother...didn't know how to be. All she could see was Alex in him and that led to well..this. Her taking care of him like he was her own. "A lot of things are a waste of time admittedly." she mused quietly. "Rember your Star is a bit on the vicious side...she can't help it." she offered him some of the icecream she had since she'd gotten far to many scoops. Eyes bigger than her stomach as the saying went. "Its not so much I like the attention...I can do without it, I get pleanty of attention just for being what I am." she said. "I like the chaos." her gaze traveled to the couple again than back to him. "Besides wouldn't you want to know how to catch the attention of a girl who has yours ?"
Star thought he was being a little hard on himself. If he ever brought a girl home she'd met them at the door. Smooth things over. As best she could.
When he made a face she look curiously at him "Oh. Hey you asked me I told you." she said as she gave a small pout and a toss of her hair. "I never pretend with you Marcel it is what it is." she said pure and simple. "I'm not there to steal your father away. Its just nice to have a living breathing person next to you at the end of the day is all." she shook her head. "You'll understand when your older I think." she never counted him as stupid and she never played make believe about the situation with him.It was because she was close to Marcel that she kept coming back to the place. She could play bedwarmer if that meant taking care of him. She'd been there off and on since he could remember. The Dark Lord moved in mysterious ways and who better than a son no one wanted to serve the Dark Lord best ? She had a feeling her Lord would identify with the boy's plight as well.
She nodded and looked the wand over. Her own being slipped onto the table in front of her. The ebon well tended and likely as old as her. "Mine is good for hexing and blocking." she said touching her fingers to it. "Each wand is good for something as Olivander told you I am certain." she said. "Each person has to find which spells are most easy to them." she said "I will start teaching you to duel, once you have you have a grip on your first set of classes, I mean in earnest. " she added. "I can teach you to defend yourself, but I expect you to use common sense. I don't want to be attempting a break out at Azkaban because something went wrong." she glanced at him over the top of her ice-cream.""And I do know those spells." she added. "Once you've a firm grip..they will be yours as well." she promised.
Oh she knew a war was coming and she knew that everyone needed training up. She also knew that many didn't take it as seriously as they should. Which was fine. She'd see the important to her trained and in the end it came down to the survival of the fittest Didn't it.

The hearts start breaking as the year is gonethe dream's beginning and time rolls on~ * ~ * ~ "I'm sure there's more entertaining pasttimes than flirting with a guy you don't really want." Marcel objected quietly. He didn't think he'd ever make it to live as long as Asterie- even though he wasn't sure how old she was, he knew it was old- but if he did, he hoped there would be something worth doing, other than meaningless flirting. Otherwise, he just might have to commit suicide. Flirting was never Marcel's thing at all. He liked girls like any guy, but he always stayed aloof and away, seeing it as pointless. His family would scare them off, so why bother?
He made a face at her comment about girls that he liked. "No, I think she's quite happy where she is." He responded quietly, raising a brow. It was vaguely reminiscent of his father. Besides, she doesn't know I'm alive.
"You're right, I did ask. I'm wishing I hadn't, but hey, there it is." He grinned at her, shaking his head. He didn't understand womens' obsession with his father, but apparently Alexander had something, because the ladies flocked to him. And not just the ugly ones, either. Whatever appeal Alexander had, Marcel was rather sure he had missed out on that gene. Just like he had all the rest. Other than a few expressions, he didn't really seem all that close to Alexander. Or to Twila, either- at least, what he knew about her since she avoided him. It was almost like he had been switched at birth with the real Landry child. I wish.
He watched her inspect his wand, leaning back in his chair until it was only on two legs. He was a fair spellcaster, but a lazy one. His professors usually proclaimed him to be a sloppy student, and he couldn't disagree. He just didn't care for the whole school thing. He liked socializing, but the actual schoolwork was too meticulous for him. He kept his grades up enough that he could still play Quidditch, but effort stopped after that.
His eyes lit up when she mentioned dueling, something he had wanted to learn for a while. Granted, no one had offered to teach him before, but it looked like now was his chance. "Will you please?"
