[INNER THOUGHTS]
Overview: Quiet and passive, Selena is often the type that is more content sitting in the background observing other people, rather than taking part in conversation. Introverted to a certain degree, she is reserved about her emotions and keeps up a calm front around most. Hard to anger, she is also hard to upset - or at least this is the way she wants it to appear. While slow to make friends or warm up to people, she has the potential in her to be a great friend.

[HISTORY]
Born several minutes before her brother Shawn, it was a relief for both of Selena's parents when the twins were both healthy, normal and unaffected by their father's werewolf status. In spite of the tense era they were born into, the twins had perfectly normal and happy childhoods. They were always close and nigh inseperable, and remained this way up until their seventh birthday and Halloween. This happened to fall on a full moon, and as this was a doubly special day, their mother was the one to take them on the customary trip to Diagon Alley, not that far from the apartment complex they lived in. Once through the Leaky Cauldron and in the alley itself, Selena ended up seperated from her mother and brother after they had eaten, due to the sheer number of wizards and witches out that night in celebration. The seven year old somehow ended up near the entrance to Knockturn Alley and had just found a teenaged boy some ten years older than herself that was willing to help her find the rest of her family, but that was when everything took a sudden and violent turn for the worse.
Infamous for placing himself near potential victims just before the full moon, the werewolf Fenrir Greyback had positioned himself near the mouth of Knockturn Alley before moonrise, with the intent of attacking, maiming and possibly killing as many people as he could on that Halloween night. Attacks from those siding with Voldemort had risen sharply around that time period, and this little 'stunt' would be the bloody icing on the cake. Immediately after moonrise and transforming, Greyback launched out of one alley and into the other, tearing into the first victims he found - Selena and the teenager she was asking for help. The only factor that prevented her from being ripped apart like a ragdoll were the preventive measures of other adults in the area, many of which were injured by the ravaging werewolf. At the end of it, some two dozen people ended up in St. Mungo's with serious injuries - most of which ended up infected with lycanthropy as a result - as well as many others that had minor bruises or cuts from Greyback's claws. Unfortunately for all involved, he escaped.
Gashed deeply across the back, bitten deeply on her right upper arm and bearing bruises and scrapes of varying severity from the struggle that had gone on, Selena stayed in St. Mungo's for close to a week as her injuries healed, surrounded by her family for most of that time. The event was highly traumatizing for someone so young, and for several months after it had happened, she rarely ever spoke. Her first transformation was terrible, as were the ones following for close to a year. The strain placed on her young body eventually entailed another trip to St. Mungo's, and while there wasn't much to be done to make the process better, the Healers did what they could. The full moons following that weren't nearly as bad as they had been - but still hard to suffer through. 'That' time of the month eventually became just another routine occurance in Selena's life, even though she loathed each subsequent cycle. Her father helped her a good deal as she grew with the sickness, as he had been transformed at a young age just as she had. Along with his help and the support of her brother and mother, Selena eventually adjusted back into a normal lifestyle and came out of her introverted shell somewhat, though it would be an ongoing struggle for her in making friends. The knowledge that she could hurt people seriously was something she had trouble coming to terms with.
Late in coming, her Hogwarts letter - and that of Shawn's - came late due to their birthdays, when they were going on twelve. Preparation to attend the school went normally, though special arrangements had to be made for Selena - just as they had been for her father when he went to school. In spite of this, the twins went to school with high hopes, but were sorted into different houses. Ending up in Gryffindor, Selena had to take a few months to adjust to how things worked, and she even succeeded in making a few friends both in her house and outside of it. Always cautious, she never really let anyone get too close all the same - most of her friends simply thought that was part of her nature. No one knew of the special arrangements she was living under...and that was just what she wanted.
