Somehow managing to escape from the watchful eyes of no less than four brothers and two parents, Ginny Weasley decided to take full advantage of it. This was the afternoon of the stereotypical trip to Diagon Alley that every wizarding family with children attending Hogwarts had to make, and it had been a very boring one for the youngest Weasley. Still one year away from being able to go to school with her brothers, she was also being shunted aside a bit more than usual - her parents were busy trying to find everything that the brother closest to her in age, Ron, needed. Her other brothers thought she was being watched by said parents, so the ten year old was able to slip through the metaphoric cracks and get away - for a time.
It took her a bit to figure out where to go, as she knew the pattern by now and also knew what stores to avoid as favored haunts of the elder Weasley brothers - particular Gambol and Japes, Flourish and Blotts, Quality Quidditch Supplies and Scribbulus Everchanging Inks. This left few other choices for her to make, as most of the other shops catered to students looking for supplies.
Bypassing Eeylop's, she finally decided on the Magical Menagerie and ducked inside, acting as if she belonged there just like everyone else. Her little act worked, as few paid any attention to her - and no one really gave a second look to the small red-headed girl. That was exactly what she wanted, and she contented herself with looking around at the various animals in cages. Pets were out of the question due to her family's less than sizable budget for most things, so she would have to make do with dreaming.

Wish I could afford a cat... Belle thought with only the slightest of frowns. She really couldn't, what with Melanie moving out and all the bills falling to Belle, but she couldn't resist the urge to visit the menagerie anyway. She watched as an odd pink kitten rolled with one of it's littermates in a mock fight, and she couldn't help but smile. How cute.
Belle raised a hand to her hair, trying to keep herself from taking off her glove and petting the kitten. There were two reasons she wouldn't do it, however- one, she would fall in love with how soft it was and then buy it, thus leaving her without food for a week, and two, she might accidentally bump against someone else. The last time she had read the future.... Belle winced, her shoulder immediately slumping wearily. No petting kittens for her.
She shoved her gloved hands in her pockets and turned to leave, accidentally running into a young girl. "I am so sorry- are you all right?"

Brought out of daydreaming when someone abruptly ran into her, Ginny regained her shifted balance and looked up, grudging having to do that to everyone. She had inherited the short Weasley genes, and hadn't even reached five feet yet. "I'm fine." she replied with a smile, not angry about the incident - having six brothers prepared her for a lot of knocks, scrapes and bumps. It was simply something she'd grown used to. "Sorry I got in your way, need to watch what I'm doing."

"I'm afraid this time is my fault... I need to watch where I'm going." Belle shrugged but offered the girl a shy smile to show she didn't hold a grudge or anything. "Buying a new pet?" She offered, trying to work on her conversational skills. Having become closer to Zephyr, Belle was quite aware that she just couldn't converse with other people, and it was something she wanted to work on.

"It's alright." Ginny reassured with a smile, laughing a bit. This was never an issue around her household, where no one took the blame for their own misdeeds. The novelty of hearing someone actually do so was amazing.
"Yeah, I wish I was." Her mood changed quickly, and the sigh that went with that statement was pronounced. "I'm just in here dreaming and getting away from my brothers for a while."

"You and I both." Belle confessed with a slight smile. "I like coming in here to play with the animals sometimes, since I can't have one of my own."
"I presume you're going to Hogwarts? What house?" She was curious, as seeing the young girl reminded her of what it was like to be going to school. She didn't really miss it, as it had been a very lonely seven years. However, she knew that her case was certainly not a normal one.

"Again, I wish." Ginny made a face, folding her arms while trying not to look huffy about the subject. "I'm just turning ten next week, so I can't go yet. Four of my brothers are going, though." Glancing around the room to try and mask the jealousy she was feeling, she fixated on the area where the Puffskeins were kept. Looking at the cuddly furballs always worked in calming her down. "Another year to go..did you go to Hogwarts?"

Belle noticed the girl looking at the puffskeins and she smiled, wishing she could buy one for the little girl. She was so sweet, not at all a brat like some of the kids that came into Honeydukes. However, Belle knew she couldn't afford it, so the thought would have to count.
"Yes, I did." Belle said softly with a slight, wistful smile. She was glad she was done with school, as school had been horrible for her since she had no idea how to control her gift at the time. "I don't think I know your name." She said after a minute, blinking. "I'm Belle."

"Ginevra, but everyone calls me Ginny." Ceasing her daydreaming, Ginny turned away from her study of the puffskeins to look at Belle, trying to gauge how much older she was. "You might have known some of my brothers in school. Did you ever know any Weasleys?"

She nodded, committing the name to memory in case she ever ran into the girl again. Since she was going to Hogwarts, it was rather likely that she would. "Weasley...." Belle racked her brain before nodding slowly. "There was a William Weasley a few years behind me... Bill? I'm guessing he's your brother, as I can sort of see the resemblance."

"Bill, yeah." Ginny laughed, as she hadn't heard someone call him 'William' in quite a long time - especially not to his face. "He's the oldest out of all of us. I guess I might look like him, but I look more like the twins." Now speaking by what other people usually told her, Ginny shrugged a little. "If I'm talking too much about them, feel free to let me know."

"I only knew him by sight." She shrugged, remembering the name mainly from the sorting ceremony his first year.
"You're not bothering me. I never really had a family, so hearing other people talk about theirs is actually pretty interesting." Belle laughed, not a hint of sarcasm to her voice. She had always wondered what it was like to have siblings.

Finding that last comment very odd, Ginny regarded Belle with an expression that was both amused and bemused at the same time. "I don't think you'd find my family very interesting for long. Sometimes I'd rather be an only child than to have to live with six brothers."
Ginny loved her family, but it had hit one of those times where being the youngest was driving her insane - that and she was extremely jealous of not being able to go to Hogwarts just yet.

"I doubt that." Belle said with a knowing smile. She had heard that comment made by a lot of people, but that was because they didn't know what it was like to be totally void of family. "They might drive you insane, I'm sure, but if they were suddenly taken away... no offense, but I think you'd have a hard time functioning."

Ginny resisted the urge to roll her eyes and/or make a face, as she didn't want to be rude. Her family could be more of a headache than many knew, especially when her brothers got it in their heads to torment her - but she knew she would miss them if something happened. She wasn't going to admit that Belle was right, though, so she simply shrugged and replied with, "Maybe, I guess."
